Dill

Dill

Dill is an annual herbaceous plant that belongs to the umbelliferous family. It is native to the eastern region of the Mediterranean Sea and is cultivated in many parts of the world. Its leaves and fruits are used in cooking as seasonings, and its seeds are employed in the preparation of certain infusions for therapeutic purposes. Dill is aromatic, measuring 30 to 45 cm, and occasionally reaching over a meter in height. The leaves are extremely fine, feather-like, dark green, and have a flavor reminiscent of parsley. The fruits, 4–6 mm long by 2.5 mm wide, composed of 2 winged mericarps, are brownish and somewhat shiny. The seeds are flat, oval-shaped, parchment-colored, and possess a somewhat bitter taste.
